Queen Eleanor Primary School

Class 2

Well Summer Term is somehow upon us and it is looking like it is going to be very busy.

How ‘egghilarating’ that we have chicken eggs in our classroom that will hatch any day. The children are very excited to see this process. We shall be looking for homes for our chicks when they are 10 days old. We will also post updates as they happen on our school Facebook page.

The year 2’s have their SATs coming up and have shown that they are more than ready for the challenges that await them. We will try and keep this time as stress-free as possible and won’t actually tell the children when they are taking the real tests.

This term’s CLT topic is Chocolate Bananas, we will be looking at fair trade and The Aztecs. With this in mind our English work will be based around Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and we will be making our own chocolate creations.

In Maths we will continue to strengthen our number skills but will also be looking at data handling, units of measure including time and position and direction.

As part of our Science topic we will be looking at states of matter and distinguishing between solids, liquids and gases. We will incorporate this into our topic work and look at reversible and non-reversible changes.

PE this term we will focus upon rounders, cricket, athletics and tennis. We will also be practising for sports day so please can PE kits be in school at all times, with trainers.
