This year we will be developing our reading and comprehension skills, we will have additional guided reading sessions and individual comprehension lessons as these are areas that need improvement. Some children will be having additional reading activities to aid their phonics or comprehension skills, an additional letter will be sent home to discuss this where necessary. We also require your help to improve reading, the more you can hear you child read the better.

In English we will be looking in detail, at the Boy in the Dress by David Walliams. We will use this to look at different writing genres and will continue to develop our grammar and punctuation skills.

In Maths we shall be looking at fractions of shapes and amounts. We will also be introducing bar modelling as a method to solve word problems with fractions and addition and subtraction, Alongside these sessions we will continue to look at the times tables and how these relate to many areas of maths.

Throughout our Science sessions we will be learning about digestion, food chains and teeth. I will make these sessions interactive, we will be planning and carrying out as many relevant experiments as possible.

PE will be taught on a Monday afternoon, with the help of Hurricane Sports and swimming will continue until February half term. After half term we will be focus upon hockey. Please remember PE kits on these days and that all uniform needs to be named.

CLT this term is the Tudors, we will look at houses and clothing in Tudor times, The various monarchs and the questionably lifestyle choices. We shall be going to Gainsborough Old Hall to further consolidate our understanding.
