Welcome to the exciting new year of 2018! Everyone has worked brilliantly over the Autumn Term and we look forward to a challenging, fun and successful Spring Term ahead.
In Literacy we are starting the new term with a multi-genre topic based around the novel ‘The Watertower’, as well as concentrating on narrative story writing. We will continue having our spelling tests on a Thursday, Reading Comprehension on Fridays and studying Rainbow Grammar to help improve our writing.
In Numeracy we will continue to follow the new framework and will be covering fractions, decimals and percentages, algebra and geometry. We will, of course, keep practising calculation, Big Maths and times tables on a weekly basis.
The Circle of Life will be our focus in Science.
In CLT we are studying ‘The Tudors’ and we will all be visiting Gainsborough Old Hall where Henry VIII actually stayed. Our DT topics, relating to this subject, will be ‘Tudor Houses’ and our food tech will involve creating pies and tarts. In Art we will concentrate on Portraits.
We will begin learning about Easter during our RE lessons and will be discussing Healthy Lifestyles during PSHE.
Once swimming finishes just before February half term, we will start doing Games on Friday afternoons with our professional coach, starting with hockey. Monday PE lessons will focus on dance.
We will continue our ICT lessons with Mrs Lister and are moving on to e-mailing and spread sheets.
We are all looking forward to another great term, filling in those gaps which have been identified in our learning over the first term. The children are enthusiastic pupils, keen to challenge themselves and progress to the next stage. I am very proud of all of them!
