A warm welcome back to school and an action-packed Summer term - the last Summer at QEP for our Year 6’s! Everyone has worked brilliantly over the Spring Term and we look forward to a challenging, successful and fun Summer Term ahead.
In Literacy and Numeracy we are continuing our SATS Boosters as these National Tests will soon be upon us! Afterwards, in Literacy, we will begin the Tuxford family literacy transition unit. Our great progress in writing will hopefully continue, with our emphasis on ‘Rainbow Grammar’ and EGPS.
In Numeracy we will do some exciting theme-based work. We will, of course, keep practising calculation, problem solving and times tables on a regular basis.
Our CLT topic this term is ‘Chocolate Bananas’, which will incorporate the geography of South America, the history of the Aztecs and chocolate – and looking into Fair Trade considerations.. The whole school will visit Cadbury’s World . Our Art and DT work will also revolve around this topic.
We will study reproduction in animals and the ‘Circle of Life’ in Science, as well as continuing to focus on healthy bodies.
We are going to look at ‘Symbols and Religious Expression’ and ‘Religion, Family and Community’ during our RE lessons and will be considering Fair Trade and Air Miles during PSHE.
In Spanish we will be concentrating on vocabulary to do with holidays and planning a (fictional) holiday to Spain.
During P.E. KS2 will continue working with our professional coach on Fridays and whole school Games on Monday afternoons. With the onset of summer and the better weather (fingers crossed) we will be enjoying lots of outdoor activities including: rounders, athletics, tennis and cricket.
