Class 3

Happy New Year everybody – and welcome to the Spring term of 2020!

In English we will be producing some super multi-genre writing on ‘Titanic’  -  our work will cover both fiction and non-fiction genres.  Spelling tests will continue to be on Thursdays, and Reading Comprehension, guided reading and grammar lessons other mornings.

In Maths we will continue with our weekly calculation paper but also develop our reasoning and problem solving skills revising such topics as angles, data, co-ordinates, shape and measure.

Our CLT (Creative Learning Time) is a whole school topic ‘Buried Treasure’ involving work on Invaders and Settlers, Coasts, Geography and much more Art will be incorporated into this subject, looking at storms and seas,  and a KS2 DT session on Treasure Boxes. We are greatly looking forward to a planned Viking Day to take place in school.

In Science we will be looking at animals, including humans, and scientists and inventors.

In PSHE we will discuss money, the role it plays in our lives and how to be a critical consumer. We continue learning Spanish this term and our topics will include the different shops and shopping for clothes.

In RE we are looking at questions and different beliefs.

PE is on a Monday for KS2.  We will also continue going swimming on a Friday afternoon until  half term. There are several sporting activities already arranged throughout the year for Class 3 as part of the Tuxford family PLT – more details will be published nearer the time.

We will be continuing with our ICT lessons – on the topic of handling data

We are all looking forward to another great term, filling in those gaps which have been identified in our learning over the first term.  The children are enthusiastic pupils, keen to challenge themselves and progress to the next stage.  I am very proud of all of them!
